"Dr. KIM started by highlighting the institution’s accomplishments, with over 3,900 alumni from over 110 countries and NASPAA accreditation, as well as sharing with those attending the vision for the school in the future - becoming the best school in the region. KDI was founded in 1971 in recognition of the need for a think tank that researches economic policy issues concerning Korea in both systematic and applicable ways, and assisted the government in formulating the "Five-year Economic Development Plans" and related policies. In 2017 KDI is in the Global Top Ten non-U.S. think tanks out of over 6,800 in total. KDI has established a global network of partners, and among them is the collaboration with the World Bank on the creation of the Open Learning Campus, a destination for development courses designed to build leadership and technical capabilities for practitioners, policy makers, staff, and students. The lecture has focused on 4 distinct subjects: 1 - Current Status of the Korean Economy, 2 - The Korean Economy Facing the Fourth Industrial Revolution, 3 - The Direction of Innovation in the Korean Economy: Turning Challenges into Opportunities, and 4 - History of South Korea Overcoming Challenges.".....more
