Searching by document type

From the Journals search form (Advanced or Expert), you can restrict your search by document type. For example, you could search only articles or review articles.

To search for specific types of documents

1. At the Journals search form, enter your search terms.
2. Select one or more of the following document types from the Limit by document type list to narrow your search.

   Note	If you do not select a document type, your search includes all document types.

   Article	A complete report on original research.
   Review Article	A substantial overview of original research that usually contains a comprehensive bibliography.
   Short Survey	A brief review of original research.
   Short Communication	A short report or announcement of research which usually has a shorter publication time than other papers in the same publication. It may appear in the publication under other names, such as Letter Papers, Preliminary Notes.
   Correspondence, Letter	A letter to the editor or a reply to the letter.
   Discussion	An argumentative communication, such as a perspective or commentary.
   Book Review	A critical discussion of a book's contents.
   Product Review	A review of software, hardware, or some other type of product.
   Editorial	An article from the editor or guest editor of a publication. A Foreword or Preface may also be assigned this document type.
   Publisher's Note	A message from the publisher to the readers.
   Erratum	An article in which errors are reported that were made in an earlier publication in the same book. An erratum may also appear in the publication as a Corrigendum.

3. Select Search to run the search with the options you selected.
